Thailand promotes 20 domestic air routes to secondary provinces

Bangkok (VNA) - The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and ThaiAirways International are jointly promoting 20 domestic air routes to 10secondary provinces during this year's fourth quarter, said TAT GovernorYutthasak Suphasorn.

That is part of the plan which callsfor state firms such as Krungthai Bank, Airports of Thailand and TAT to helpwith the launch of a tourism campaign in a bid to raise the incomes of thenational flag carriers, he said.

Under the theme of "AmazingThailand Go Local", the 20 air routes are being promoted where THAI andTHAI Smile airlines currently shuttle their passengers between Bangkok and the10 provinces, he added.

Those provinces, mostly beingsecondary destinations for tourists, include Chiang Rai in the North, UdornThani and Ubon Ratchathani in the Northeast and Yala in the South.

THAI and THAI Smile airlines will runpromotional packages from now until the end of December.

Meanwhile, Yutthasak passengers to atotal of 55 secondary provinces, including the 10 currently promoteddestinations, will enjoy up to 15,000 THB (457 USD) in tax deduction by theyear’s end.-VNA
