Bangkok (VNA) – The Thai cabinet has approved six proposals by the Minister ofTourism and Sports to build up regional partnership in promoting tourism of the Associationof Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

According to Minister of Tourism and SportsSudawan Wangsuphakijkosol, the proposals will be presented at the 27th Meetingof ASEAN Tourism Ministers in Vientiane, Laos, on January 24-25 and at threesimilar meetings.

The first proposal relates to the meeting inLaos. It comes as a statement and aims to promote tourism in ASEAN member states under the concept of “Quality and Responsible Tourism -  Sustaining ASEAN’s Future”.

The second, third and fourth documents arestatements about the participation in three meetings between ASEAN and othercountries, including China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, India and Russia, withthe goal of fostering international cooperation to restore and boost thetourism industries of those participating nations.

The fifth document is a memorandum of understanding(MoU) between ASEAN and the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), with the aim to improving the partnershipbetween the two organisations to facilitate tourism initiatives together.

The last document is the draft of long-term action plans toallow sustainable growth in Asean tourism, preserve the environment andculture, adjust industry standar🦩ds to promote innovation and sಞhare best practicesfor promoting tourism sustainably./.
