Bangkok (NNT/VNA) – Thailand’s Ministry of Social Development and HumanSecurity has held a press conference to confirm its readiness to host ASEANmeetings regarding the socio-cultural community.
Mr. Porametee Vimolsiri, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of SocialDevelopment and Human Security, presided over the press conference and revealedthat as this year Thailand is chairman of the ASEAN community, the ministry isready to host two major meetings; one between May 13 and 18 at Chiang Mai andother set to be held in October in Bangkok.
On the agenda is the 26th Meeting of the Senior Officials Committee for theASEAN Socio-Cultural Community; the 21st Meeting of the ASEAN Socio-CulturalCommunity Council, and other related forums.
These meetings will create effective collaboration and sustainable developmentin many sectors, such as children’s and women’s rights, the environment, artsand culture, education and many more spheres of mutual concern.
The ministry also hopes that Thailand will benefit from this year’s ASEANChairmanship on the theme of "Advancing Partnerships forSustainability" by being a good host and ensuring a warm welcome forforeign guests.
