Thailand to host 'World of food ASIA 2014' expo

The Thai Commerce Ministry is set to organise “THAIFEX - World of food ASIA 2014” on May 21-25, with a view to promoting the popularity of Thai food in the international community.

Nuntawan Sakuntanaga,Director-General of the International Trade Promotion Department (DITP),revealed that the combined value of Thai food exports last yeartotalled 25 billion USD, with canned and processed food products toppingthe list, followed by rice, frozen shrimp, and processed fruit andvegetables.

As this year’s exports have been heavily affected bythe political turmoil, the DITP will host the event once again totrigger the food export industry as well as to prepare the Thai foodentrepreneurs for the advent of ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in 2015.

Visitorswill be offered with quality food products from 1,500 companies inThailand, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Italy Cambodia, Brazil, Brunei, Singapore, Turkey, and Vietnam.-VNA
