Thailand to upgrade Tham Luang cave as world-class tourist attraction
The Thai Government plans to upgrade Tham Luang - Khun Nam Nang Non Park as a national park and world-class tourism attraction, with plans to construct a museum telling a story of the memorable rescue mission.

Bangkok (NNT/VNA) – The Thai Government plans to upgrade Tham Luang - Khun NamNang Non Park as a national park and world-class tourism attraction, with plansto construct a museum telling a story of the memorable rescue mission.
Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Surasak Karnjanarat said thecabinet has appointed his agency to look after the development project for ThamLuang - Khun Nam Nang Nong area in Chiang Rai into a major tourism attraction,by working closely with the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the Ministry ofCulture, and the Ministry of Interior.
Following the successful rescue mission of the Wild Boar soccer players, thearea has received some 4,000 visitors per day, requiring the upgrade tofacilities and safety features to better serve more people.
The renovation of the area will emphasize on the story of the rescue mission,while the upgrade of the area into a national park has been well received bylocal villagers. The upgrade plan will require garbage management measures.
The cabinet has also approved the proposal from the Ministry of Culture toconstruct a museum in the area telling the story of the rescue mission, as wellas construction plan for facilities such as parking space, retail space, andtoilets.
Tourism and Sports Minister Weerasak Kowsurat said the ministry is working onthe design of a cycling path in and around the area as a recreational andnature observation route, with the plan to use local materials combined withinternational construction designs.-NNT/VNA
All members of the teenage soccer team rescued from a flooded cave in Thailand and rescuers are in good health but they need to be monitored for about two weeks, local health officials said.
The Tham Luang cave complex in Chiang Rai province of northern Thailand, where 12 young footballers and their coach were trapped inside from June 23 before they were all safely brought out on July 10, will be turned into a museum to showcase the rescue.
