Thailand works to alleviate drought, smog problems in all areas

Due to the drought situation and the severe problems of dust and haze, the Thai government has ordered the Department of Royal Rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation (DRRAA) to review the annual royal rainmaking action plan to alleviate problems for people in all regions, said the Department’s Director General Surasee Kittimonthon said.

Bangkok (NNT/VNA) – Due to the drought situation and the severeproblems of dust and haze, the Thai government has ordered the Department ofRoyal Rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation (DRRAA) to review the annual royalrainmaking action plan to alleviate problems for people in all regions, saidthe Department’s Director General Surasee Kittimonthon said.

The DRRAA will commence its annual rainmaking operations earlier this year fromFebruary 17, 2020, to help mitigate the drought disaster. The department hasbeen reviewing its operational plans prior to the actual mission to ensuremaximum effectiveness.

The DRRAA has also cooperated with the Royal Irrigation Department to carry outroyal rainmaking operations to fill reservoirs in the eastern region due tofavorable weather conditions. They include Dok Krai Reservoir and Nong Pla LaiReservoir in Rayong and Bang Phra Reservoir in Chonburi./.
