Bangkok (VNA) – Thailand’s chickenexports to China surged more than 700 percent in the first seven months of thisyear due to strong consumers’ demand.

Manager of the Thai Broiler ProcessingExporters Association Kukrit Arepagorn said that due to high prices of porkcaused by the swine fever outbreak in China, Chinese consumers have increasedtheir demand for chicken.

As a result, during the January-July period,China imported around 33,500 tonnes of chicken meat and products from Thailand,a year-on-year increase of 712 percent.

This figure has made China the thirdlargest export market for chicken meat and products from Thailand, followingEurope and Japan.

Currently, seven chicken factories inThailand are certified by China and can export frozen chicken meat and productsto the country.

Officials from General Administration ofCustoms of China recently came to Thailand for a safety inspection of 10 poultryfactories. If there are more Thai factories which pass the assessment, exportswill increase further./.
