Thailand’s exports record high in six years

Thailand’s exports in November of 2017 rose for a ninth straight month by 13.4 percent, the fastest level in six years, according to the Thai Ministry of Commerce.

Bangkok (VNA) – Thailand’s exports in November of 2017 rose for aninth straight month by 13.4 percent, the fastest level in six years, accordingto the Thai Ministry of Commerce.

Pimchanok Vonkorpon, Director General of the ministry’s Trade Policy andStrategy Office, said that the country’s shipments to abroad grew 10.1 percentduring January-November.

The robust growth is attributed to the global economic recovery, particularlyin Thailand’s traditional trade partners.

Thailand’s key export markets are the EU (5.3 percent), the US (20.7 percent),China (16.9 percent) and South Asia (41.8 percent).

Rubber, cassava, fresh and frozen chicken and rice were major earners.

Pimchanok Vonkorpon forecast that exports for the whole year 2017 would grow8-10 percent and the figure for 2018 would be 6-6.5 percent with total value of250 billion USD.-VNA
