Third batch of AstraZeneca vaccine donated by Japan delivered

The third batch of COVID-19 AstraZeneca vaccine, donated by Japan, arrived at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on July 9 morning.

HCM City (VNA) – The third batch of COVID-19 AstraZenecavaccine, donated by Japan, arrived at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HoChi Minh City on July 9 morning.

Japan has to date provided nearly 2 million doses of AstraZenecavaccine as non-refundable aid for Vietnam, including almost 1 million dosesdelivered on June 16 and around 400,000 doses on July 2.

In total, Vietnam has so far received over 5.5 million dosesof COVID-19 vaccines, including nearly 2.5 million doses from the COVAXFacility, over 400,000 doses ordered by the Vietnam Vaccine JSC, some 2.5million doses granted by countries and more than 97,000 doses ordered from Pfizer/BioNTech.

As scheduled, an additional 2 million doses of Modernavaccine will be delivered to Vietnam this weekend.

Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long said Vietnam has joinedabout 200 negotiations related to COVID-19 vaccines. About 105 million dosesfrom different suppliers have been committed for Vietnam.

According to the Ministry of Health, around 8.7 milliondoses will be delivered to Vietnam and will be given to Ho Chi Minh City andadjacent provinces which have been hard hit by the pandemic. Priority will begiven to front-line medical workers and those aged above 65 and have underlyingdiseases.

The ministry will also send 30 mobile vaccination vehiclesto serve vaccinations in the city./.
