Hanoi (VNA) - The Ta Quang Buu Awards 2020 will be presented to threescientists who have made significant contributions to the country’s science andtechnology sector.

This year, the main category of the Ta Quang Buu Awards, named after the famousscientist Professor Ta Quang Buu (1910-1986), was presented to Associate Prof.Dr. Vuong Thi Ngoc Lan from Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine andPharmacy; Associate Prof. Dr. Pham Tien Son from Da Lat University; and Dr.Nguyen Truong Thanh Hieu from Ton Duc Thang University.

According to the Ministry of Science and Technology, the annual award aims toacknowledge the efforts and successes of scientists who have made significantcontributions to national socio-economic development.

Ta Quang Buu Awards is the most prestigious and valuable award held each yearfor Vietnamese researchers. Since its launch in 2014, it has encouraged andmotivated scientists and scientific and technological organisations towardshigh quality research in Vietnam, fostering the development of an academic,creative and innovative environment which promotes the development of strongteams to undertake research at an international level.

This year’s award ceremony will take place on May 18 in Hanoi, in celebrationof the Vietnam Science-Technology Day./.
