Thua Thien-Hue mobilises 3.21 trillion VND for new-style rural area building

Thua Thien-Hue (VNA) – The central province of ThuaThien-Hue expects to mobilised 3.21 trillion VND (138 million USD), including 260billion VND (11.18 million USD) from businesses and the community, for thenew-style rural area building programme.

According to Pham Quyen, deputy head of the Office of theNational Target Programme for New-Style Rural Area Building of Thua Thien-Hue,the province has involved the community in the work by working withorganisations, businesses and citizens.

Central and provincial funds for the work have been usedeffectively and transparently, creating consensus among the community, he said.

The province has built middle-term plans integrated withother programmes and projects in the localities, while using public-privatepartnerships to attract investment in some areas such as the environment.

Notably, since 2017, Dong Lam cement company has helped theprovince build more than 130 cement roads with total length of nearly 30km,along with a canal system.

In the future, the province will strengthen the applicationof special mechanisms for new-style rural building, while supervising andevaluating the implementation of policies for timely adjustments, especiallythose to support production and attract investment in agriculture and ruralarea.

Since 2011, Thua Thien-Hue has mobilised more than 5.11trillion VND, including 296 billion VND from businesses and 750 billion fromthe community, for the programme.

So far, 44 communes have completed all 19 criteria of theprogramme, reaching 42.3 percent. In 2018 alone, the province has 14 communesrecognised as new-style rural areas. As of the middle of 2019, the averagecompleted criteria was 16.3 per commune.-VNA
