Hanoi (VNA) – Party General Secretary and State President To Lam hosted a reception for Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Orlando Nicolas Hernandez Guillen in Hanoi on September 19.
The top leader asked the ambassador to convey his thanks to First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez for Cuba’s readiness to dispatch experts and doctors to Vietnam, helping the country deal with the devastating consequences of Typhoon Yagi.
Lam noted with pleasure the fruitful developments of the bilateral relations, and affirmed that Vietnam consistently treasures the solidarity and special solidarity between the two Parties, countries, and peoples.
He thanked Miguel Diaz-Canel for inviting him to pay a state visit to Cuba, and expressed his hope that the visit will contribute to consolidating trust and tightening solidarity between the two nations, raising cooperation efficiency, and advancing the Vietnam-Cuba ties to a new period, with practical and sustainable development.
For his part, the ambassador affirmed that the Cuban Party, State, and people always keep a close watch on and highly value Vietnam’s reform achievements over the past nearly 40 years, as well as its experience in socio-economic development, external relation expansion, and international integration.
Such achievements have not only given more strengths to the country, but also improved its reputation and position in the region and the world, he said.
He said the visit by Lam, his spouse, and a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam is anticipated in Cuba, stressing it also demonstrates Cuban high-ranking leaders’ will and readiness to constantly consolidate and strengthen the relations.
The diplomat expressed his firm belief that the visit will contribute to creating new momentum for the bilateral ties to grow further in the time ahead.

Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi held talks with Cuban Minister of Construction Rene Mesa Villafana in Hanoi on July 23, aiming to review the implementation of agreements on cooperation in construction in line with the minutes of the 41st meeting of the Vietnam-Cuba Intergovernmental Committee signed in Cuba on April 15 and exchange contents that need to be promoted in the coming time.
