Hanoi (VNA) – General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee To Lam has laid stress on the critical role of the CPV Central Committee’s Commission for Economic Affairs in perfecting institutions for the development of the socialist-oriented market economy as well as outlining pivotal guidelines for national economic management.

At a working session with the commission on December 9, the Party chief highlighted that the commission has made contributions to the country’s impressive economic achievements over the past years.

He called on the commission to make revolutionary changes in its organisational structure so as to have an effective and efficient apparatus that is able to meet the development requirements in the new period, saying this is in line with the Party Central Committee’s ongoing objective to continuously reform and streamline the political system, making it leaner and more effective.

The top leader highlighted the commission's responsibility to form a leading strategic advisory body with international prestige based on inheriting the existing achievements while elevating them to a new height. He stressed the importance of maintaining ideological consistency with the Marxist-Leninist principles, President Ho Chi Minh's thought, and the Party’s overarching perspectives, particularly the national development platform during the transitional period towards socialism.

He urged persistent intellectual innovation and creativity, calling for enhanced strategic planning, research, analytical, and forecasting capabilities. He also highlighted the need for the commission to forecast and respond to major global trends, including technological revolutions, technical advances, and emerging security challenges, particularly non-traditional security threats, thus developing policy recommendations and solutions to support the Party’s leadership and socio-economic guidance.

Furthermore, the commission must continue bolstering close and collaboration among multiple sectors to review the Party’s socio-economic development policies as well as the implementation of the resolution adopted at the 13th National Party Congress, he said, emphasising the significance of international cooperation to learn from other countries' development experience.

The Party General Secretary stated that the core task is to form a senior research team capable of connecting with genuine intellectuals, experts, and scientists who possess both professional expertise and genuine commitments, as well as develop high-quality staff with independent research capability, considerable experience and sound professional qualifications.

He asked the commission to proactively make both theoretical and practical contributions to the preparation for the 14th National Party Congress, including perfecting the documents of the socio-economic sub-committee.

The Party chief expressed his belief that the commission, with its determination, solidarity and responsibility, will continue developing and successfully complete its entrusted missions.

🎉 According to the commission, since the beginning of the 13th term, it has completed 23 socio-economic proposals, contributed to 176 reports, projects and documents related to the areas of economy – society, defence, security, foreign affairs and Party building work of competent authorities. It studied and completed 19 reports on the macro-economic situation and thematic reports on key domestic and international issues that impact the country’s socio-economic development. The documents were then submitted to the Politburo and the Secretariat for reference to support the leadership and direction work./.
