Top legislator arrives in Dhaka, beginning official visit to Bangladesh

Dhaka (VNA) – Chairman of the VietnameseNational Assembly (NA) Vuong Dinh Hue arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal InternationalAirport in Dhaka capital on September 21, starting his official visit toBangladesh at the invitation of Speaker of the Parliament Shirin SharminChaudhury.
The top legislator and his entourage were greetedat the airport by Iqbalur Rahim, member of the Parliament; K.M. Abdus Salam,Senior Secretary of the Bangladesh Parliament; and representatives of theVietnamese Embassy in Bangladesh.
Since Vietnam and Bangladesh set up their diplomaticrelations on February 11, 1973, their traditional friendship and multifacetedcooperation have been continuously developed with political trust enhanced, which laid afirm foundation for the two nations to promote partnership across all fields.
Over the past 50 years, the two sides have stoodby stood and support each other during national construction, defence andeconomic development in each country.
Along with maintaining regular high-levelvisits and meetings, the two sides have agreed to work closely to build along-term vision for the bilateral relations, increase visits at high and alllevels, strengthen meetings of existing cooperation mechanisms, and considerthe resumption and upgrading of the Joint Committee on economic, culture,science and technology cooperation in the time to come.
Hue’s visit takes place in the context of the gooddevelopment of Vietnam-Bangladesh friendship and at a time when the twocountries are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of theirdiplomatic relations (1973 - 2023).
It is expected to contribute toconsolidating and expanding the friendship and effective and practicalcooperation between the two countries in all fields, affirming the commitmentof the NA of Vietnam to cooperate with the Bangladeshi Parliament after theVietnam visit by the Speaker of the Bangladeshi Parliament in 2017. It is themost important foreign political event between the two countries on the 50thfounding anniversary of their diplomatic relations, and the first visit by theVietnamese NA Chairman to Bangladesh and the highest leader of Vietnam to visitBangladesh since 2018.
While in Bangladesh, Hue will join host leaders in celebrations of the 50th anniversary of thebilateral diplomatic ties.
He is scheduled to hold talks and meet with seniorleaders of Bangladesh, during which they will discuss measures toconsolidate and promote the friendship and the effective, practical cooperationbetween the two countries in all Party, parliament and government channels,and people-to-people exchange.
The top legislator will also attend a number of cultural, economicand diplomatic activities on this occasion./.
President Vo Van Thuong on August 15 suggested Vietnam and Bangladesh step up all-level delegation exchanges, thus strengthening their comprehensive cooperation.
National Assembly (NA) Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue’s upcoming official visit to Bangladesh from September 21 aims to reinforce and promote the relations between the two countries and two legislatures, stated Vice Chairman of the NA Committee for External Relations Le Anh Tuan.

Stronger efforts and determination are required to achieve and surpass the set targets, especially in the eradication of makeshift and dilapidated houses nationwide, the acceleration of public investment disbursement, and the implementation of nationally important transport projects, PM Pham Minh Chinh noted.
The trip will be made at the invitations of Chinese Premier Li Qiang and WEF President and CEO Børge Brende, according to an announcement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien welcomed the proposals put forward by the US side and reiterated Vietnam’s request for consideration of key areas of interest, including reciprocal tariff policies and access for Vietnamese key export products to the US market.
Deputy PM Le Thanh Long proposed countries promote shared values, including building trust, sincerity, and solidarity among nations and peoples; fostering cooperation spirit and responsible behaviour as well as upholding international law and the UN Charter; and placing people at the centre and as the goal, the key player, and the driving force of all policies.
The show, together with a grand parade to be held silmutaneously at Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi, will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, the National Day, and the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA).
In particular, in April 2023, the two sides successfully carried out a joint operation that dismantled a major organised, transnational drug trafficking ring involving both Vietnamese and Cambodian suspects.
