Top legislator visits National Press Festival 2018

Hanoi (VNA) – Chairwomanof the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan on March 16 visited the NationalPress Festival 2018, which opened the same day at the Hanoi Museum.
After her tour of differentstalls, Ngan lauded the Vietnam Journalists’ Association (VJA)’s idea toorganise a diverse and interesting festival, which can help boost exchangesamong press agencies and journalists, and attract public engagement.
She acknowledged significantcontributions of press agencies in promptly covering the country’s political-diplomaticand socio-economic activities as well as international affairs.

Also on March 16, as part of theevent, the VJA held a gathering to honour ten 90-years-old journalists, who havejoined hands to make Vietnam’s revolutionary press history. They included journalistsPhan Quang, Ha Dang, Thai Duy, Dang Minh Phuong, Dao Nguyen Cat, Nguyen KhacTiep, Pham Phu Bang, Nguyen Tran Thiet, Ly Thi Trung and Vo The Ai.
The Vietnamese revolutionarypress made its debut in 1925, witnessing a generation of war reporters who alsotook part in revolutionary activities since 1945.
Sharing their thoughts at theget-together, journalists Phan Quang and Ha Dang urged young journalists tobuild on their predecessors’ good traditions and nurture their skills to makequality products meeting demand of readers in the modern age.
On the occasion, the Hanoi Museumscreened a documentary film about the 90-years-old journalists.-VNA
The national press festival, themed “Vietnamese press accompanies the nation in renovation”, is slated for March 16 – 18 at the Hanoi Museum, heard a press conference on March 6.
The National Press Festival kicked off at the Hanoi Museum in Tu Liem district, Hanoi, on March 16 under the theme of “Vietnamese press accompanies the nation in renewal.”
In Vietnam’s case, she said, President Ho Chi Minh demonstrated his strategic vision by founding the revolutionary press a century ago. The late leader understood the press's role not only as a means to reflect the country’s realities but also as a powerful tool to strengthen national unity and inspire the resistance wars and national construction process.

VietnamPlus e-newspaper of the VNA clinched an A prize in the “Outstanding Press Product” category for its immersive 3D multimedia project, “Epic of Reunification,” a groundbreaking blend of storytelling and technology. The VNA won another A prize for its eye-catching exhibition booth.
Today, the press for foreign service has evolved into a distinct, irreplaceable force, bridging Vietnam with the world and portraying a nation that is stable, peace-loving, and fully integrated into the international community.
At a review conference held on June 21, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Van Sinh praised the province’s scientific, coordinated, and flexible approach. He noted that the early completion reflects the strong commitment of local authorities, the business community, philanthropists, and residents in improving housing conditions for disadvantaged groups.
The VNA delegation, led by General Director Vu Viet Trang, actively participated in the event, engaging in both professional and diplomatic activities.
In the context where AI dominates and produces vast volumes of content, the only sustainable path forward for journalism is to focus on high-quality content and core values. Journalism must redefine its mission - not to report the fastest, but to provide the most profound and trustworthy value.
