Tourists stranded on Co To island come ashore safely

After two days being stranded on Co To island in the northeastern province of Quang Ninh due to bad weather caused by tropical storm Talas, all 3,500 tourists were brought ashore on July 18.

Quang Ninh (VNA) – After two days being stranded on Co Toisland in the northeastern province of Quang Ninh due to bad weather caused bytropical storm Talas, all 3,500 tourists were brought ashore on July 18.

Le Hong Thang, Director of the Quang Ninh Domestic Waterway PortAuthority, said that all tourist vessels from the mainland to Co To wereallowed to operate normally from 6:00 am of July 18 after the weather conditionbecome stable.

Earlier, storm Talas, the second of its kind hitting the country so farthis year, forced all tourist ships in Quang Ninh to halt operation for safetyreason, leaving about 3,500 tourists stranded, including 14 foreigners.

During theirstay in Co To, the tourists received support in terms of accommodation and otherservices.-VNA
