Kon Tum (VNA) – Two German nationals were killed in a trafficaccident on Lo Xo pass in the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum on February19.
According to theprovincial Traffic Police Division, the accident occurred at around 3pm whenJohann Maximilan Hannig, 32, and his wife Jasmin Hannig, 30, were riding amotorbike up the Lo Xo pass towards Quang Nam province. Their vehicle crashed intoa truck coming from the opposite direction.
Jasmin died on thespot, while her husband passed away at a medical centre in Quang Nam province’sPhuoc Son district.
The numbers of traffic accidents and related deaths and injured cases plunged in November, helping to drag the 11-month figures down from the same period last year, according to the National Traffic Safety Committee.
A total of 1,300 traffic accidents occurred nationwide in the month to January 14, which killed 591 people and injured 968 others, according to the National Committee for Traffic Safety.
