Traffic accidents kill 23 on first day of Tet holiday
Thirty-one traffic accidents occurred, killing 23 and injuring 15 others on January 23 (the 29th day of the 12th lunar month), the first day of the week-long Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday.

Hanoi (VNA) – Thirty-one traffic accidents occurred, killing 23 and injuring 15 others on January 23 (the 29th day of the 12th lunar month), the first day of the week-long Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday.
They included 29 roadaccidents and two railway ones, according to the Traffic Police Department under theMinistry of Public Security.
All the numbers of accidents,deaths and injured people increased compared to the first day of the 2019 Tetholiday.
Also on January 23, trafficpolice nationwide dealt with 3,264 cases breaking road traffic rules and 363 otherviolations on waterways, revoking 526 driving licences./.
Citizens can now film and record traffic police officers, as long as they are not interfering with police duties, according to a new circular that took effect on January 15.
The number of traffic accidents has fallen dramatically, just two weeks after the drink-driving law took, according to Major Gen. Le Xuan Duc, Deputy Director of the Traffic Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security (MoPS).
A total of 1,300 traffic accidents occurred nationwide in the month to January 14, which killed 591 people and injured 968 others, according to the National Committee for Traffic Safety.
