Hanoi (VNA) –
Two Australian navyvessels - a landing helicopter dock and a guided missile frigate arrived in Manila, the Philippines, on October 10.

Philippine navyofficials and Australia’sAmbassador to the Philippines Amanda Gorley welcomed the crew of the ships,which are part of the Australian defence force joint task group Indo-PacificEndeavour 2017.

Captain Jonathan Earley said the five-day visit aims to demonstrate Australia’scommitment to supporting regional security and stability.

He added that a number of exercises plannedwith the Philippine armed forces in Manila andin western Subic Bay will focus onhumanitarian aid and disaster relief. Ambassador Gorley said the ship visit is a symbol of the strong defence ties between Australia and the Philippines.

Through joint activities during the visit, the two countries can worktogether to pursue the common objective of ensuring maritime security andregional stability, she added.-VNA
