Quang Ninh (VNA) -Two Chinese citizens have been detained while attempting to smuggle a13-day-old baby out of Vietnam, border guards in the northern border provinceof Quang Ninh said on December 18.
Li Bao Shan and Wang Wei werefound with an undocumented baby when the border guards searched a Hanoi-registeredcar in the area around Moc 13 hamlet, Quang Duc commune, Hai Ha district whichis adjacent to the Chinese border.
The two admitted they had beentrying to smuggle the baby to China for sale.
An investigation into the caseis on-going.
Should they be found guilty ofhuman trafficking, the men might face jail terms of between five and ten years andfines ranging from 20 million VND to 100 million VND (870-4,300 USD)./.
The Mong Cai International Border Gate in northern Quang Ninh province announced on February 22 that three Chinese nationals had been arrested for using fake ATM cards to steal money from banks.
The People’s Court of Hanoi on March 14 sentenced three Chinese men, all from Jiangxi province, to up to 42 months in prison for using fake bank cards to steal cash from ATMs.
