Two more Vietnamese universities enter Asia’s best list

Two more Vietnamese universities have been named in a list of Asia’s top universities, bringing to seven the country’s number of universities on the list compiled by the London-based education consultancy Quacquarelli Symonds (QS).

Hanoi (VNA) - Two more Vietnamese universities have been named in alist of Asia’s top universities, bringing to seven the country’s number ofuniversities on the list compiled by the London-based education consultancyQuacquarelli Symonds (QS).

The 2019 list of 505 top universities in Asia was announced on October 23 bythe QS.

The seven Vietnamese universities are Vietnam National University, Hanoiranking 124th, Vietnam National University, HCM City ranking the 144th, HanoiUniversity of Science and Technology ranking in the group of 261st-270th, TonDuc Thang University ranking in the group of 291st-300th, Can Tho Universityranking in the group of 351st-400th and Hue University and Da Nang Universityin the group of 451st-500th.

Compared with the QS Asia 2018, two Vietnamese universities made significantprogress. Specifically, Vietnam National University, Hanoi maintained itsposition as Vietnam’s best university and rose 15 spots from last year. The HanoiUniversity of Science and Technology also rose by 30 levels.

HCM City National University slipped two spots compared with last year. Can ThoUniversity moved from the group of 301st-350th to the group of 351st-400th.Similarly, Hue University and Da Nang University also fell behind.

Ton Duc Thang University appeared on the list for the first time and ranked inthe group of 291st-300th.

To measure excellence among Asian universities, QS uses 11 indicators tocompare institutions, including academic reputation, employer reputation,faculty-student ratio, proportion of international students and researchquality indicators.- VNA
