UNICEF helps strengthen woman, child rights

The UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) will help Ho Chi Minh City strengthen its capacity in improving the exrcise of woman and child rights.
The UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) willhelp Ho Chi Minh City strengthen its capacity in improving theexrcise of woman and child rights.

To this effect, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s CommitteeHua Ngoc Thuan and UNICEF Chief Representative in Vietnam Jesper Marchsigned the Ho Chi Minh City Child-Friendly Project on May 12.

As part of the Vietnam Child-Friendly Programme, the project willassist local authorised agencies in information collection andmanagement, the issuance of social policies and assessment oftheir impacts on children.

The project will also help reduce injuries among children and increasechildren and pregnant women’s access to health care and nutritionservices.

With a budget of over 1.52 million USD, the project will beimplemented until the end of 2011.

The 22.1 million USD Vietnam Child-Friendly Programme is part of anational cooperation programme between the Vietnamese government andUNICEF in the 2006-2010 period. Together with HCM City , theprogramme is implemented in Dien Bien, Kon Tum, Ninh Thuan, An Giang andDong Thap provinces./.

♍ Over 1.5 million people assisted during humanitarian month 2025

According to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRC), this year’s campaign provided long-term aid for 3,785 individuals and organisations. Support included houses, clean water systems, school meal facilities, books, and livelihood assistance, with a total value of more than 118 billion VND.
