US, DPRK leaders attend expanded meeting

US President Donald Trump and leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (RoK) Kim Jong-un on February 28 attended an expanded meeting with members of the two delegations in Hanoi following their 45-minute one-on-one meeting earlier the same day.

Hanoi (VNA) – USPresident Donald Trump and leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea(RoK) Kim Jong-un on February 28 attended an expanded meeting with members ofthe two delegations in Hanoi following their 45-minute one-on-one meetingearlier the same day.

According to the US’s White House, the leaders are scheduled to have lunchtogether at 11:55pm, before holding a joint statement signing ceremony which isscheduled to take place at 2:05pm.

A news conference on the summit’s results will be held on 3:30pm the same day.

After their meeting and dinner on February 27 evening at Sofitel LegendMetropole Hanoi Hotel, both the US President and the DRPK leader voiced theiroptimism about realising targets towards peace and complete denuclearisation inthe Korean Peninsula.

 US President Trump tweeted that he had “greatmeetings” and “very good dialogue” with leader Kim.

DPRK leader Kim also said that he had “a good dialogue” with President Trump onFebruary 27 and vowed to do his utmost to make the summit fruitful. -VNA
