Hanoi (VNA) – The Embassy of theUS in Vietnam launched a blood donation campaign on January 10.
As many as 269 people registered to donatetheir blood at the annual event, the eighth of its kind.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Chief ofMission Caryn McClelland said as the US and Vietnam celebrate the 25 years ofthe normalisation of their bilateral diplomatic relations this year, the eventmanifests the countries’ commitment to the construction of long-standingpeople-to-people exchanges at all levels.
Medical officer at the US Embassy ShawnLockett noted that the blood donation campaign also helps raise publicawareness of the significance of maintaining a stable amount of blood inreserve as well as voluntary blood donors.
The number of voluntary donors has enjoyedconstant increase since the first event held in 2012, he added./.
A seminar to promote exchange and cooperation among sectors, enterprises, and organisations of Vietnam and the US was held in Hanoi on May 23 by the Vietnam-US Society under the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO).

The programme on sustainable poverty reduction has achieved its annual targets for reducing the poverty rate as assigned by the National Assembly and the Government. It has fulfilled five specific objectives and five five-year goals, and met nine out of 12 indicators related to addressing basic social service shortages.
