Kuala Lumpur (VNA)🐻 - Honeywell International Inc, a technology and manufacturing firm of the US, is ramping up its presence in Malaysia through its production and service expansion in the country.

According to the New Straits Times Online of Malaysia, Honeywell is moving its flight control system production for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner to Penang, which is targeted to be completed by the year-end.
Honeywell President for Southeast Asia Briand Greer said products manufactured in Penang will not only for the Malaysian and Asian market but also for global consumption. The firm will set up a centre for aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) operations in Penang to cater to the growing need for maintenance and service works of airlines in the region, Greer revealed, adding that the plan will be made in stages. Additionally, the group was also looking to set up a distribution centre to store expected high volume of aircraft parts, given the rising number of planes operating in the region.
The move is aimed at introducing more aerospace-related activities, towards strengthening Honeywell’s footprint in ASEAN, particularly in developing countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam. Honeywell’s Penang facility was opened in 2009, specialising in producing integrated avionics systems for commercial, business and general aviation and military aircraft. The firm also manufactures and supplies products such as automatic flight control and electronic flight display systems, weather radar, navigation systems, and flight management systems and reference sensors, avionics and information systems for business jets, turboprops and twin-turbine helicopters.-VNA
