Quang Binh (VNA) – Odon Vallet scholarships worth nearly 3 billionVND (129,100 USD) were awarded to 276 students in the central provinces of HaTinh, Quang Binh and Quang Tri at ceremony held in Dong Hoi city, Quang Binhprovince, on August 28.
Each student was given a scholarship worth 10 million VND and undergraduates wereawarded 15 million VND each.
Prof. Odon Vallet, ValletScholarship sponsor; Prof. Tran Thanh Van, Chairman of the Science andEducation Association “Meeting Vietnam in France” and his wife, Prof. Le KimNgoc attended the ceremony and awarded scholarships to the students.
Professor Odon Vallet spoke highly efforts made by the Vietnamese students,expressing his hope that the scholarships will help them make significantcontributions to building the country in the future.
The Vallet Scholarship has beenawarded in Vietnam since 2001. During the past 18 years, more than 30,000 Valletscholarships have been awarded to Vietnamese students with total value of morethan 200 billion VND.
Awardees are typically excellent students in urban areas or children of poorfamilies in remote areas in the Mekong Delta and northern mountainous provinces.
In France from 2000, Prof. Vallet, through theintroduction of Prof. Van and Prof. Ngoc, has given more than 100 scholarshipsto Vietnamese students in France.-VNA
Close to 500 Vallet scholarships worth 10 million VND (428.39 USD) each were presented to outstanding students from 58 high schools and six SOS villages in the north on August 23.
As many as 144 Vallet scholarships worth 1.4 billion VND (60,200 USD) were presented to outstanding students and young researchers in the central province of Nghe An at a ceremony held in the locality on August 27.
A total 179 Vallet scholarships worth nearly 2 billion VND (about 85,920 USD) have been presented to disadvantaged students in the Central Highlands and the south central provinces of Ninh Thuan and Khanh Hoa.
