Bac Giang (VNA)ꦐ - Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan led a delegation to visit Bac Giang province to assess recovery efforts following Typhoon No. 3 on September 13.
During her visit, she offered words of encouragement and gifts to the residents of Vu Xa commune in Luc Nam district, who were significantly impacted by the floods.
The aftermath of Typhoon No. 3 has left many areas in Bac Giang reeling from severe damage. Tragically, the storm has resulted in 2 fatalities and 7 injuries. A total of 18 houses have collapsed, while 3,854 homes have suffered roof damage or other impairments. Authorities have urgently relocated 3,249 households to ensure their safety. Agricultural losses are substantial, with extensive rice fields flooded and damaged. Furthermore, numerous transportation and irrigation projects have experienced landslides, blockages, and destruction; as a result, 267 schools had to close their doors. Many communities remain isolated due to flooding, and several dykes and embankments have breached.
In response to this crisis, Bac Giang has mobilized its entire political system to aid recovery efforts. As of the morning of September 13, 69 schools were still closed, and 36 residential areas were cut off, affecting approximately 33,800 individuals.
During her visit to the resilient residents of Vu Xa, who had been isolated by the floods, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan expressed her heartfelt sympathy for their losses and encouraged them to persevere through these challenging times and work towards restoring stability in their lives.

She commended the local authorities for their swift and effective actions in coordinating recovery efforts, emphasizing the importance of the "four on-site" principle to assist families in overcoming the aftermath of the floods and resuming their lives. She noted that river levels in Bac Giang remain high, posing a significant risk to the dyke system and reservoirs. To mitigate these risks, she urged the province to rigorously implement Central Government directives on disaster prevention and rescue, actively monitor river conditions, patrol and safeguard dykes, and follow through with the "four on-site" strategy.
Bac Giang is committed to diligently addressing the aftermath of Typhoon No. 3 while maintaining vigilance in monitoring weather patterns and potential disasters. The authorities are proactively directing and executing responsive measures tailored to the situation, ensuring timely and effective actions to minimize further damages from forthcoming floods.
The province will continue to prioritize the welfare of families affected by the floods, offering support for livelihoods and assistance to help them stabilize their lives and production activities.

The Vice President reiterated that the Party and State remain dedicated to caring for the well-being of the people, particularly those affected by natural disasters and floods, through concrete and meaningful initiatives. Local governments are urged to promptly assess and document all damages to production, property, businesses, and infrastructure, enabling the swift mobilization of resources from both Central and local levels.
In light of the floods, relevant agencies are also called to focus on environmental cleanup and disease prevention to safeguard the health of residents.
