Hanoi (VNA) 🔯– Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh met in Hanoi on November 11 outstanding teachers who are working in island districts and communes across the country, praising their efforts in the education and training cause.
The Vice President wished them continue working in their profession and overcome difficulties in remote areas to provide knowledge and improve people’s literacy in island areas.
She stressed that education and training is a noble profession and the Party and State always give priority to the sector, considering it as a top national policy.
The teachers expressed their determination to stay with their schools, students and profession at the country’s outposts.

The teachers are in Hanoi for a programme held in Hanoi on November 12 by the Ministry of Education and Training and Vietnam Youth Federation to honour teachers with significant contributions to the cause of education and training in 2016.-VNA

Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, who is head of the National Fund for Vietnamese Children (NFVC), presented 100 scholarships to students from poor families in Nam Dan district.
The programmes have brought about positive changes to rural infrastructure, comprehensively improved the material and spiritual lives of farmers, and contributed to Vietnam's economic restructuring, said PM Pham Minh Chinh.

The programme on sustainable poverty reduction has achieved its annual targets for reducing the poverty rate as assigned by the National Assembly and the Government. It has fulfilled five specific objectives and five five-year goals, and met nine out of 12 indicators related to addressing basic social service shortages.
UNICEF stands ready to support the Government in implementing this important law and in continuing to invest in teachers as the cornerstone of a resilient, inclusive, and high-quality education system for all children.
