Vietjet supports people in typhoon-stricken, flooded areas

In response to the devastating impact of Typhoon Yagi and the subsequent floods affecting Vietnam’s northern provinces and cities, Vietjet is mobilizing its resources and calling for employees to provide urgent relief to those in need.

HCM City (VNA) - 🌞In response to the devastating impact of Typhoon Yagi and the subsequent floods affecting Vietnam’s northern provinces and cities, Vietjet is mobilising its resources and calling for employees to provide urgent relief to those in need.

On September 10, Vietjet’s management board called on the airline’s staff to donate to support communities affected by the natural disasters. In a remarkable show of solidarity, up to 8,000 Vietjet employees have come togetherto contribute and share the hardships of families who have suffered losses and damages. Vietjet CEO Dinh Viet Phuong said: “All of us at Vietjet would like to extend our sincere encouragement to those suffering from the aftermath of the typhoon and floods. We believe that with solidarity and community support, people will overcome difficulties and quickly stabilize their lives.” As part of its commitment to disaster relief, Vietjet will also contribute 5,000 VND (approx. 0.2 USD) from each ticket sold from now until September 30 to to aid in the recovery efforts. This initiative is expected to raise around 5 billion VND (approx. 202,900 USD) from ticket sales alone.

Additionally, Vietjet has taken immediate action by allocating 2 billion VND (approx. 81,140 USD) to purchase essential supplies, including food, clean water, and medicine, to help affected communities overcome the immediate challenges and begin the recovery process. Vietjet will also transport relief goods free of charge from both domestic and international donors to the typhoon-affected regions from now until September 20.
