Vietnam affirms support for Palestinian people’s struggle for inalienable rights

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam has affirmed sꦅtrong support for the legitimate struggleof the Palestinian people for their inalienable rights at the UN SecurityCouncil’s briefing on “The situation in the Middle East, including thePalestinian question” on February 11.
The following is the full text of the statement by the Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the United Nations, Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, at the UNSC Briefing on “The situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian question” on February 11. "Mr. President, 1. We warmly welcome His Excellency Mahmoud Abbas,President of the Palestinian State and thank him for his statement. Mydelegation would like to thank Secretary-General Antonio Guterres for his remarksand Special Coordinator for the Middle East process Mladenov for his briefing. 2. The search for a comprehensive and lasting solution to the Palestinianquestion continues to command interests and concerns by relevant parties, countriesin the Middle East and the international community. Vietnam joins the internationalcommunity in reaffirming our strong support for the legitimate struggle of thePalestinian people for their inalienable rights. We strongly support thetwo-state solution, including the establishment of an independent and sovereignState of Palestine with the borders enshrined in relevant resolutions of theUnited Nations, living side-by-side with the State of Israel, in peacefulcoexistence, security and mutual recognition. 3. Yet afterdecades, peace and a final settlement remain elusive. We share other Councilmembers’ deep concerns over Israel’s continued resettlement activities and therecent calls for annexation of parts of the Occupied Palestinian Territory. Wetherefore call on and support the relevant parties to strive for acomprehensive, just and lasting peace settlement through dialogues and negotiations on the basis of respect for internationallaw, the Charter of the United Nations and relevant resolutions of the UnitedNations, including Security Council resolution 2334 and with the consent of theparties concerned. We are convinced that such a peace settlement could only bereached through exercising restraint, avoiding actions that may furthercomplicate the situation and maintaining direct dialogues. It is our sincerehope that the parties will engage in discussions with goodwill and in aconstructive manner. 4. Towards that end, Vietnam welcomes all initiativesand efforts to restart the Middle East peace process based on internationallaws and bilateral agreements. We are ready to makepositive contribution to promotion of dialogues and negotiations within and beyond the United Nations with a view to achieving a solutionto the Israel - Palestine conflict that ensures the legitimate rights andinterests of Palestine and all other parties concerned. The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on January 21 held a periodic open debate on the Middle East situation, including Palestine, under the chair of Vietnam.
Head of Vietnam’s mission to the UN Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy chaired a session on January 31 to review activities of the UN Security Council (UNSC) during January, the month Vietnam held the rotary Presidency of the UNSC.
Foreign ambassadors lavished praise on Vietnam as the country has successfully fulfilled its role as the rotary president of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) in the first month of 2020.
Vietnam has completed what it planned to do during the month it held the presidency of the UN Security Council, said Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, Head of Vietnam’s Permanent Mission to the UN.
The Party and State of Vietnam always attach great importance to and give top priority to the development of Vietnam–China relations. Vietnam is ready to work with the Chinese Party and State to further deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and promote the building of the Vietnam-China community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.
Under the leadership of President Ho Chi Minh and the CPV, President Cuong said, the press has been a steadfast force on the ideological and cultural front, rallying the masses to pursue national aspirations.

Lao Minister of Foreign Affairs Thongsavanh Phomvihane affirmed that the presence of Vietnamese press offices in Laos vividly demonstrates the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two nations, as the press is not only a means of communication but also an important bridge for spreading consciousness about the history, values, and strategic depth of the Laos – Vietnam relationship to the people of both countries and the international community.
The country is willing to participate in collective efforts to promote cooperation and mobilise resources to advance the current priority issues of developing countries, such as trade, investment, infrastructure connectivity, making the most of scientific and technological advances for development, and people-to-people exchanges, Hang said.
During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
The Chairman stressed the need for stricter fiscal discipline, faster digital transformation, and more efficient management of State budget revenues and expenditures.
