Vietnam aims to create 1.6 million new jobs in 2017

Hanoi(VNA) – The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs(MoLISA) aims to create more than 1.6 million new jobs for labourers,including 105,000 people sent to work abroad, said Minister Dao Ngoc Dung.

The ratio of workers registering tobuy social insurance is hoped to hit 25-27 percent. 

In social welfare, about 99 percent of familieswho are preferential  policy beneficiaries will have theirliving standards raised to similar or higher than average living standards ofother households in their area. 

The ministry also aims to help 82 percent of thedisabled access at least one social service and support 87 percent ofdisadvantaged children nationwide. 

In 2016, more than 1.6 million labourers wereprovided with jobs, including 1.5 million domestic employees and 126,000 guestworkers, up 1 percent and nearly 10 percent year-on-year, respectively. 

A total of 1.9 million people joined vocationaltraining programmes, with 1.8 million graduating, fulfilling 91.8 percent and98.9 percent of targets. 

The rates of poor and near poor householdsnationwide decreased by 1.3-1.5 percent to between 8.58-8.38 percent comparedto the end of 2015.-VNA
