Vietnam Airlines to resume flights to Japan’s Osaka on Sept. 18

Kansai Airport in Osaka has resumedoperations but is currently only receiving a small number of flights, so from September18-20, Vietnam Airlines will operate only one flight per day on the air routelinking Ho Chi Minh City and Osaka.
After September 20, the firm will work with Kansai Airport to re-launch flightsbetween Hanoi and Osaka with frequency of one flight per day.
To meet the need of passengers traveling between Vietnam and Japan, VietnamAirlines will replace Airbus A321 with Boeing 787 aircraft with more seats onthe route between Hanoi and Nagoya from September 18.
The firm also plans to operate Boeing 787aircraft instead of Airbus A321 between HCM City and Nagoya from September 21.
Previously, many carriers had to cancel flights to Osaka due to Typhoon Jebi,which caused serious damage to Kansai Airport.
A total of 56 flights of Vietnam Airlines at this airport during September 4-17had to be cancelled.
To ensure the travel plan for passengers, VietnamAirlines has introduced flexible solutions such as free-of-charge transferring passengerto other airports in Japan, using wide-body aircraft Airbus A350 and Boeing 787with more seats on flights between Hanoi and HCM City to Nagoya to carry morepassengers who booked flights to/from Osaka.

National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines and low-cost airline Jetstar Pacific continued to cancel flights between Japan’s Osaka and Vietnam scheduled for September 6 after tropical storm Jebi struck the west of Japan, flooding Kansai International Airport.
Low-cost airline Jetstar Pacific announced on September 6 that it will cancel four additional flights to Japan on September 7 and 8 due to the super Typhoon Jebi, which is ravaging Japan and has forced Kansai International Airport in the west to close for repair.
Jetstar Pacific announced on September 12 that it will continue to cancel flights to the Japanese city of Osaka until the end of September 20 as repair work is still underway at Kansai International Airport following the hit of Typhoon Jebi.
