Bangkok (VNA) – Minister of Finance Dinh Tien Dung is leading aVietnamese delegation to attend the 23rd ASEAN Finance Ministers’Meeting which opened in Chiang Rai, Thailand, on April 5.

The one-day event has attractedalmost 300 delegates from 10 ASEAN member states, and several East Asian,American and European nations.

In his opening remarks, Thai FinanceMinister Apisak Tantivorawong stressed that to achieve targets in the ASEANEconomic Community Blueprint 2025, ASEAN states should cooperate to createpositive changes for the world’s economy.

He expressed his belief that when thecountries intensify collaboration, their common desires for a connected,sustainable and self-reliant ASEAN would be fulfilled.

Participating ministers highlightedcooperation in using local currencies in investment, handling trade conflictsand supervising digital assets and cyber security in financial transactions.

They are expected to discussfinancial, payment and service connectivity so as to facilitate intra-bloce-payment.

Cyber security was also put on tablefor discussion to solve threats to the financial sector.

After the meeting, relevant partiesare expected to sign a Protocol to implement the Eighth Package of Commitmentsunder the ASEAN Framework Agreement on Services.

On the same day, the 5th ASEANFinance Ministers’ and Central Bank Governors’ Meeting also takes place inChiang Rai.-VNA
