Havana (VNA) –💎 A delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) led by Nguyen DucLoi, member of the CPV Central Committee and General Director of Vietnam News Agency, isparticipating in the 24th Sao Paulo Forum, which opened in Cuba’s capitalHavana on July 15.
Theforum, held in Havana for the third time after the 1993 and 2001 editions,brought together 430 delegates from Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe,Asia and Africa, with the Left’s unity in Latin America and the Caribbean asits theme. Addressingthe opening ceremony, Executive Secretary of the forum Monica Valentehighlighted the importance of dialogue and consensus against new attacks onprogressive governments. Thethree-day forum includes various discussions and events with the participationof parliamentarians, female and youth delegates. It also establishes a positionagainst hostile acts towards progressive governments in Latin America. Createdin 1990 as a result of the Permanent Conference of Political Parties of LatinAmerica and the Caribbean, the Sao Paulo Forum is a space for dialogue, which attractsabout 100 political parties, organisations and progressive movements in theregion. On thesidelines of the event, Nguyen Duc Loi met with Jose Ramon Balaguer, Secretaryof the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee and head of its Department ofExternal Relations. Thetwo officials discussed the situations of the two nations and internationalissues of mutual concern, as well as activities to bolster cooperation betweenthe two Parties and countries.-VNA
