HCM City (VNA) – A celebration of the45th founding anniversary of Vietnam-Australia diplomatic ties was held in HoChi Minh City on May 25.
Chairman of the municipal People’s CommitteeNguyen Thanh Phong said the milestone has become more special when the twocountries elevated their ties to strategic partnership in March this year.
Australia and HCM City have reaped a lot ofsignificant achievements in their cooperation in the fields of trade,investment, education-training, culture and tourism.
At present, Australia is running about 180investment projects in HCM City with total registered capital of nearly 190million USD, Phong said.
HCM City established ties with Australia’sNorthern Territory in 2014.
The two sides’ universities are activelyimplementing a number of cooperation projects, including the training of 500masters and doctors for Vietnam’s southern economic hub.
The collaboration between HCM City and Australianlocalities will further develop in the coming time on the foundation of mutualtrust and the strategic partnership, Phong said.
For his part, Australian Ambassador to VietnamCraig Chittick shared that this is a wonderful event to mark the 45-year-olddiplomatic ties between Vietnam and Australia.
According to the diplomat, the celebrationdemonstrated the warm friendship between the two countries over the past yearsand the wish of Australian people to explore Vietnamese culture.-VNA
Vietnam is very proud to have a friend and a partner like Australia, President Tran Dai Quang said at a banquet in honour of Governor-General of Australia Peter Cosgrove and his spouse in Hanoi on May 24.

The show, together with a grand parade to be held silmutaneously at Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi, will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, the National Day, and the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA).
In particular, in April 2023, the two sides successfully carried out a joint operation that dismantled a major organised, transnational drug trafficking ring involving both Vietnamese and Cambodian suspects.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Israel is closely coordinating with relevant local agencies to stay informed and provide the utmost support possible for Vietnamese nationals.
