Vietnam, Brazil foster relations

A delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), led by Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member and Secretary of the Party Central Committee, paid a working visit to Brazil from August 26 to 27, aiming at fostering and expanding relations with political parties in the South American country as well as promoting the comprehensive partnership between the two countries.

Buenos Aires (VNA)🅰 - A delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), led by Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member and Secretary of the Party Central Committee, paid a working visit to Brazil from August 26 to 27, aiming at fostering and expanding relations with political parties in the South American country as well as promoting the comprehensive partnership between the two countries.

During the visit, Nghia, who is also the head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Information and Education, held talks and meetings with President of the Communist Party of Brazil Luisiana Santos, President of Brazil’s Workers Party Gleisi Hoffmann, President of the Democratic Labour Party Carlos Lupin, Advisor to the Brazilian President Celso Amorim and President of the Brazil - Vietnam Friendship Association Ignacio Arruda. At the meetings, Nghia expressed his thanks to the people and leftist, communist and progressive forces of Brazil for the solidarity, friendship and support that they gave Vietnam in the past struggle for liberation and national reunification as well as national building and safeguarding at present.
He highlighted achievements Vietnam has obtained after nearly 40 years of implementing the Doi moi (renewal), affirming that the country continues to implement a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation and development, diversification and multilateralisation of international relations, and attaches importance to developing traditional friendly and cooperative relations with neighbouring countries, major countries and traditional friendly countries, including Latin American nations.

Leaders of Brazilian political parties congratulated Vietnam on its important achievements gained in recent times, especially in socio-economic development, Party building and foreign affairs, and expressed their belief that Vietnam will continue to obtain even greater achievements in the renewal process and successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, considering this a valuable example and lesson for political parties in Brazil and Latin America. They affirmed that they will closely coordinate with Vietnam in promoting the effective implementation of joint statements and agreements between high-ranking leaders of the two countries and continue to support each other at international and regional forums to deal with global challenges given the extremely complicated developments in the world situation. Nghia and the leaders of the Communist Party and the Workers' Party of Brazil signed a cooperative agreement for the 2024-2029 period to contribute to strengthening and promoting the Vietnam-Brazil relationship on the basis of respecting each other's independence, sovereignty, equality and non-interference in each other's internal affairs. The two sides agreed to continue to deepen the traditional friendship, solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and political trust between the Parties, the two States and peoples of the two countries, bringing benefits to the people of each country, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in each region and the world. They pledged to step up communication work, effectively implement agreements, create breakthroughs in cooperation in economics, trade, investment, science and technology and innovation, encourage people-to-people exchanges between the two countries and closely coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums. While in Brazil, the delegation attended an international conference on President Ho Chi Minh and Vietnam-Latin America relations, held working sessions with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services and visited the Vietnamese Embassy and some economic and cultural establishments in Brazil./.
