Vietnam calls for UK education support

The Deputy PM made the appeal at a reception for the UK PrimeMinister’s Trade Envoy to Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, Lord DavidTerence Puttnam, in Hanoi on February 26.

He reasoned thatUK education is developing strongly and the Vietnamese Government wishesto build an education sector with a vision towards the next fivedecades.

Speaking highly of the strategic partnership betweenthe two countries, especially in economics, trade and investment, hesaid such cooperative outcomes have brought about practical benefits toeach country’s development.

Vietnam and the UK hold hugeopportunities to further their relationship, particularly with two-waytrade rapidly increasing, the minister said.

For his part,Lord Puttnam said the UK has always valued cooperation with Vietnam andthat he hopes that outstanding agreements reached between the two can beimplemented soon.

He suggested Vietnam assess its demandsfor human resources in future to devise a long-term training plan inorder to meet the requirements of sustainable development.-VNA
