Vietnam calls on Mali to promote national reconciliation

New York (VNA) – Vietnam called on all concernedparties in conflict-torn Mali to accelerate efforts towards nationalreconciliation through dialogue during a UN Security Council (UNSC) meeting onOctober 30 (Vietnam time).

The meeting on the situation in Mali was briefed by El‑GhassimWane, Special Representative of the Secretary‑General and Head of the UnitedNations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA).

In his speech, Counsellor Phan Ho The Nam, politicalcoordinator of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the UN, expressed his deepconcerns over challenges in security, development and humanitarian Mali isfacing.

He urged the concerned parties to redouble efforts topromote national reconciliation, exercise restraint and resolve differences throughdialogue, and to back MINUSMA’s operation.

The Vietnamese diplomat also called on the internationalcommunity to continue supporting the people in that country, particularly in addressing humanitarianchallenges./.
