🐎 – Vietnam is concerned about escalatingtension and violence in the Gaza Strip over recent days, which killed andinjured many Palestinians, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang said at aregular press briefing on May 17.

Replying to questions about Vietnam’s reaction to the US’sopening of its embassy in Jerusalem and rising tension in the region, thespokesperson said Vietnam protests the use of force and calls for restraintand an end to escalating tension. “Vietnam once again calls for the settlement of conflicts bypeaceful measures and efforts to seek a comprehensive, fair and sustainablesolution, while ensuring life safety for civilians and the legitimate interestsof concerned parties as well as peace and stability in the region,” Hang said. She stressed Vietnam’s stance that all solutions related toJerusalem should adhere to international law, especially resolutions of theUnited Nations, with consensus of related parties. “Vietnam maintains the consistent position of supporting thejust struggle of the Palestinian people and the two-State solution with theestablishment of a State of Palestine that co-exists in peace with the State ofIsrael along the pre-1967 border and with East Jerusalem as the capital of the Palestine,”the spokesperson said. Regarding the US’s withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal,the spokesperson made clear that Vietnam supports dialogue to seek peacefulsolutions to all disputes. “We hope that all parties to the Joint Comprehensive Plan ofActions (JCPOA) will persevere in negotiating to find a solution that can bringlong-term peace and stability for the region and the world as a whole,” shesaid.

Asked to comment on the meeting between US President DonaldTrump and leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea Kim Jong Un onJune 12 in Singapore, Spokesperson Hang said Vietnam supports all constructive effortsto settle all disputes through peaceful dialogue, contribute to peace, securityand stability on the Korean peninsula in particular and the world in general.-VNA
