Hanoi (VNA) – Vice President and GeneralSecretary of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) Don TuanPhong received a delegation from the Cuban Institute for Friendship with thePeoples (ICAP) in Hanoi on April 17.
Congratulating the successof the 8th Asia-Pacific Regional Conference of Solidarity with Cuba, Phongstressed that Vietnam always supports Cuba’s socio-economic development and thefight against trade embargo from the US.
Phong informed his guestthat head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Mass MobilisationTruong Thi Mai has become new Chairwoman of the Vietnam-Cuba FriendshipAssociation.
He stated the VUFOattached importance to the ties with the ICAP, which, he expects, would help promotethe two countries’ cooperation.
Vice Chairwoman of theCuba-Vietnam Friendship Association Marta Rojas Rodrigues, who led the ICAPdelegation, praised the affiliations between the VUFO and ICAP and hoped topromote solidarity and friendship between the two peoples through the twoagencies’ cooperation programmes. -VNA
The State-run Vietnam News Agency (VNA) launched a photo exhibition themed “Vietnam-Cuba” in Hanoi on August 10 to celebrate the 90 th birthday of Cuban leader Fidel Castro (August 13).
A seminar on the trade embargo against Cuba was held by the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association (VCFA) and the Cuban Embassy in Vietnam in Hanoi on October 19.
