Vietnam draws with Myanmar in U21 International event

Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam’sU19 team drew 1-1 with Myanmar in the first match of the Thanh Nien (YoungPeople) newspaper’s International U21 Football Tournament in Can Tho onDecember 12.

The Vietnamese side played acounter-attacking style and created a number of chances in the first half, butnone were converted into goals.

Myanmar however managed to securethe opener just four minutes after the interval.

After changes were made to theVietnamese squad, Khac Khiem received a ball from the right wing and headed itinto the net.

In a later match, Vietnam’s U21team lost 0-1 to Thailand. The only goal of the match was by SettawurWongsai in the 43rd minute.

The annual tournament will run inthe Mekong Delta city of Can Tho from December 12-22.

Five teams compete in a roundrobin format, with the two best teams entering the final. The winner will walkaway with 700 million VND (30,000 USD).-VNA
