Vietnam, Ecuador to increase political dialogue

Vietnam and Ecuador agreed to strengthen political dialogue through high-level visits during the third political consultation between the two countries in Quito on December 1-2. ​

Buenos Aires (VNA) – Vietnam and Ecuadoragreed to strengthen political dialogue through high-level visits during thethird political consultation between the two countries in Quito on December1-2.

The Ecuadorian Foreign Ministry said onDecember 2 that the two sides also considered the opening of embassies in Quitoand Hanoi.

The two countries consented to promote tradeand investment through an agreement signed between the Vietnam Trade PromotionAgency (Vietrade) and the Institute for the Promotion of Exports andInvestments of Ecuador, as well as with the participation of the private sectorof both countries.

At the same time, they will step up bilateraltechnical cooperation in such areas as energy and technology parks in Yachay cityin northern Ecuador.

During the meeting, Vietnam appreciated Ecuador'sproposal to engage in the cooperation partner mechanism of the Association ofSoutheast Asian Nations (ASEAN), as well as Ecuador’s holding the chair of the groupof developing and emerging nations (G77) from January 2017, the ministry said.

It added that Vietnam’s military-run telecomgroup Viettel has shown its interest in the telecommunication sector in Ecuador.

Vietnam and Ecuador established diplomaticties in 1979. Vietnam is currently one of Ecuador’s most important tradepartners.

The Vietnamese Foreign Ministry delegation tothe event was led by Deputy Minister Dang Dinh Quy. Earlier, the delegationpaid an official visit to Paraguay and held the second political consultationwith the country.

After Ecuador, the Deputy Minister isscheduled to visit Argentina.-VNA
