Hanoi (VNA) ཧ-Vietnam has made the best use of advanced technology to produce vaccines to prevent human diseases, ensuring the production of 11 out of 12 types of vaccines to serve the expanded vaccination program.
In a speech at the 2023 National Scientific Conference on medical research and application organised by the Vietnam General Medical Association on October 12, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan stressed that outstanding vaccine production and testing research has made Vietnam a strong country in vaccine production. Vietnam's clinical trial management system has been recognised by the World Health Organisation. Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan said that in recent years, scientific research, technological development and innovation in the medical field have contributed to bringing Vietnamese medical science to the world. The healthcare sector has mastered many of the advanced techniques in diagnosing and treating human diseases. These include organ transplant technology, cardiovascular intervention, oncology, emergency resuscitation, hematology-blood transfusion, laparoscopic surgery, and nuclear medicine.ꦜIn the context where resources for healthcare are becoming increasingly scarce, the need and quality of medical examination and treatment are given top priority. The research and evaluation of medical technology, especially economic evaluation, needs to be developed and applied in the process of health policymaking, planning, management and clinical practice.
According to the Ministry of Health, the national strategy to protect, care for and improve people's health for the period between 2011 and 2020, with a vision to 2030, clearly states the important task of the health system in building standards and implementing medical technology assessment. These facets serve to identify effective, low-cost medical interventions, ensuring the quality of healthcare services.
