Hanoi (VNA)🎃 – Vietnam and Honduras should bolster economic, trade, and investment cooperation to match their strong political relations, a Vietnamese diplomat has said.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Mexico and Honduras Nguyen Van Hai made the suggestion while presenting the letter of credence from State President Luong Cuong to Honduran President Xiomara Castro on June 13 (local time). Castro congratulated the ambassador on taking on his new mission and expressed her belief that he would successfully fulfil his duties, helping elevate bilateral relations to new heights.
Expressing her admiration for Vietnam’s struggle for national independence and reunification, as well as its achievements during the Doi Moi (Renewal) process under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, she said she hopes that the two sides would further deepen their bilateral cooperation across various fields, particularly in the context of the 20th anniversary of diplomatic ties this year.
Hai, for his part, pledged to make every effort to promote the friendship and cooperation between the two countries. He reaffirmed Vietnam’s consistent policy of strengthening its relationship with Honduras based on the three pillars of party-to-party diplomacy, state diplomacy, and people-to-people diplomacy. He recommended that the two sides increase joint activities to mark the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations, including the exchange of high-ranking delegations. Earlier, the ambassador presented a copy of his credentials to Honduran Minister of Foreign Affairs Javier Bu Soto, held a working session with Deputy Foreign Minister Gerardo Torres Zelaya, and met with representatives from several relevant agencies./.
