Vietnam hopes for stronger cooperation with US in science-technology: official
Along with science and technology development, in the next decade, Vietnam will focus on promoting innovation, circular development and commercialising research outcomes, and hopes for the US’s support and cooperation in the process for common growth, stated Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui The Duy.

Hanoi (VNA) – Along with science and technology development,in the next decade, Vietnam will focus on promoting innovation, circulardevelopment and commercialising research outcomes, and hopes for the US’ssupport and cooperation in the process for common growth, stated Deputy Ministerof Science and Technology Bui The Duy.
Addressing the 11th meeting of the Vietnam-US JointCommittee on Science-Technology Cooperation in Hanoi on December 9, Duy highlightedthe strong development of science and technology in the US, Vietnam and the wholeworld, directly influencing people’s life. Alongside, digital technology andartificial intelligence are growing strongly, serving the circular economy andsustainable development.
For his part, US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc E Knapper saidthat the increasing cooperation between the two countries in science andtechnology will help promote the prosperity and progress of both sides.
In 2023, the two sides will celebrate theirstrategic partnership, he noted, proposing that based on their long-term cooperativerelations, the two sides can elevate their collaboration in science andtechnology to a new height.
At the event, participants discussed the prioritised science and technology areasof Vietnam and the United States in the coming years, and the fields with highcooperation potential such as R&D activities in artificial intelligence, and capacity building forSTEM education.
They also gave opinions on reports of four working groups inthe fields of health and medical sciences, climate change, conservation andbiotechnology in agriculture./.
In the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, science-technology cooperation in health care and pharmaceuticals is one of the important fields Vietnam is promoting.
Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam has signed Decision No. 569/QĐ-TTg dated May 11 issuing a strategy for scientific-technological development and Innovation until 2030.
As Vietnam’s digital transformation accelerates, both the frequency and severity of cyberattacks are growing. The province now has 30 operational industrial parks spanning over 13,000 hectares, with an occupancy rate exceeding 90%.
The diplomat emphasised that Vietnam places the highest priority on the development of science, technology, and innovation, viewing them as critical drivers for the country’s advancement in the new development era.
