Hanoi (VNA) – Minister of National Defence Gen. Phan Van Giang hosteda reception in Hanoi on March 16 for Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Sandeep Arya,during which they discussed measures to strengthen the two countries’ defencecooperation.

Congratulating Sandeep Arya on his appointment to this post,Giang said he believed the diplomat will make important contributions topromoting the bilateral relations in various fields, including defence.

Affirming Vietnam attaches importance to its comprehensivestrategic partnership, the minister said that based on the fine relations andmutual political trust, the bilateral defence cooperation has developedcontinuously, bringing about practical results, and becoming an importantpillar in the two nations’ ties.

He proposed the ambassador pay attention to boosting defencecooperation activities to further enhance the relations between the twocountries in general and the two armies in particular, for peace and stabilityin the region and the world. He affirmed the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defence alwayscreates favourable conditions for the diplomat to fulfil his missions.

Sandeep Arya asserted that in his position, he will exert effortsto contribute actively to fostering the two nations’ relations in general andtheir defence cooperation in particular./.
