New Delhi (VNA)🐲 – Vietnamese Ambassador to India Nguyen Thanh Hai and Secretary of the Indian Department of Science and Technology Prof. Abhay Karandikar discussed ways to boost science and technology cooperation between the two countries in New Delhi on October 9.

Hai underscored the robust bond between the two nations, highlighting the immense trust exemplified by recent high-level engagements, including Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s state visit to India and the meeting between Party General Secretary and State President To Lam and Indian PM Narendra Modi in the US. He expressed hope that this cooperation will deepen and expand across various sectors, such as artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductor ecosystem, financial innovation, digital payment, space technology, renewable energy, biotechnology, disaster resilience technologies and, especially, the peaceful use of atomic energy as both countries are carrying out their joint statement to progress toward becoming developed nations.
Karandikar concurred with Hai’s proposals, underscoring the deep historical ties between Vietnam and India and the abundant opportunities for stronger sci-tech collaboration. He urged both countries to intensify direct coordination in science and technology as previous engagements have largely taken place within the ASEAN partnership framework.
Scientific communities from both nations should identify specific areas for collaboration and work together in such fields as digital technology, AI, cybersecurity, quantum technology, green energy, and biotechnology, the Indian official said. Concluding the meeting, both sides agreed on the necessity for additional working sessions at different levels to expedite the signing of practical agreements./.
