Hanoi (VNA) ܫ– The Vietnam Air Traffic Management (VATM) launched two so-called highways on the sky on the north-south route to shorten travel time on August 18.

Accordingly, flights will be separated into two one-way paths from the previous two-way route, thus doubling the throughput on the north-south route while reducing traffic conflicts.
The system uses advanced area navigation (RNAV5) in line with the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organisation. The system has been applied in advanced nations across the world, prioritising long distance flights and optimal altitude.
According to VATM, the north-south air route in Vietnam is one of the world busiest, with nearly 700 flights a day. The Vietnam flight information region, which connects the West and Southwest Asia and the East and Northeast Asian Economic Zones, is also one of the busiest flight areas in the world, with more than 2,000 flights a day.-VNA
