Vietnam and Japan co-chaired the second ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) workshop on international cooperation on maritime domain awareness in Tokyo on February 20.
Tokyo (VNA) – Vietnam and Japan co-chaired the secondASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) workshop on international cooperation on maritimedomain awareness in Tokyo on February 20.
The workshop brought together experts from ARF member countriesand representatives of relevant Japanese ministries and agencies.
The delegates looked into such issues as maritime domain awareness capabilities and inter-sectoralmechanisms and international cooperation to cope with challenges, includingpiracy, maritime terrorism and illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing.
To address these challenges, it is important to timelygrasp accurate information on various incidents in a wide area and share itwith those concerned to enable a prompt response. As it is impossible for asingle country to collect sufficient information in a comprehensive manner, itis required to build an international information-sharing network, according tothe Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The delegates agreed on the need to enhancecollaboration in order to raise maritime domain awareness./.

The show, together with a grand parade to be held silmutaneously at Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi, will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, the National Day, and the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA).
