Vietnam joins 32nd International Fire Chiefs’ Association of Asia General Conference

Tokyo (VNA) – MajorGeneral Nguyen Tuan Anh, head of the Department of Fire Prevention, Fightingand Rescue under the Ministry of Public Security, has attended the 32ndGeneral Conference of the International Association of Fire Chiefs of Asia(IFCAA) held in the Japanese city of Yokohama.
The event, themed "The future prevention of fires and disasterprevention post-COVID-19", brought together firefighting officials from 13countries and territories in Asia and Oceania.
Participants at the conference, which ended on June 8, exchanged knowledge and experiences onfire and disaster response and engaged in discussions on building a partnershipframework for cooperation among fire prevention and firefighting forces inthe region.
On the sidelines of the conference, they observed the internationalrescue team joint drill and visited Yokohama International Fire and SafetyExhibition, Yokohama Disaster Risk Reduction Learning Centre and Tsurumi SeaFire Prevention and Fighting Team.
The Vietnamese official had working sessions with various Japanese agenciesto explore possibilities of cooperation and exchange experiences in developingpolicies on fire prevention, firefighting and rescue, as well as buildingrelevant standards, and to discuss measures to promote official developmentassistance (ODA) projects in the fields of fire prevention and fighting andrescue./.
More than 1,500 people and 100 vehicles took part in a fire-fighting drill held on October 16 in the central city of Da Nang by the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Defence and the municipal People’s Committee.
Patrols will be increased and fire safety promoted by local districts in HCM City and neighbouring provinces in an aim to prevent forest fires during the current dry season, the city's Fire Fighting and Prevention Police Department has said.
